The K.R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts (KRNNIVSA) observed World Environment Day on 12th June 2025, as students were on vacation on the official date of 5th June.
The event was inaugurated by Dean Mr. Vinod Sukumaran, followed by an inspiring message delivered by Prof. Savita Singh. In her address, Professor Singh emphasized the importance of protecting the environment, while reflecting on her personal journey from an urban life surrounded by concrete structures to the serene, green landscapes of Kerala. She expressed deep admiration for Kerala’s natural beauty, which, she shared, played a key role in her decision to join KRNNIVSA.
Her message also resonated with a strong call for global empathy, as she touched upon the ongoing atrocities and human rights violations in Gaza, reminding the gathering of the broader responsibilities we share as citizens of the world.
As part of the event, students and faculty members planted trees at various locations across the campus, reinforcing the message of environmental stewardship through meaningful action.
The celebration reflected the institute’s commitment not only to artistic excellence but also to social and environmental consciousness.
