The Animation and VFX department of KRNNIVSA has hosted an intensive three-day workshop on Storytelling for VFX-Driven Filmmaking From April 6th to 8th, Led by the acclaimed filmmaker Krishand R. K., the program provided students with a rare, hands-on opportunity to bridge the gap between narrative creativity and technical visual effects.
The workshop’s primary mission was to guide students in developing and "locking" a story suitable for a live-action VFX short film. Under Krishand’s mentorship, participants explored how narrative choices should drive VFX decisions, rather than the other way around—a critical distinction in professional high-end filmmaking.
Krishand opened the session by sharing his unique approach to VFX-driven cinema. Students pitched their initial concepts and received direct feedback to refine their scripts, focusing on identifying "VFX opportunities" that enhance the story.
A standout highlight of the three-day workshop was Krishand R. K.’s deep dive into his personal story writing techniques. He challenged students to look beyond surface-level plots, urging them to build "philosophically sound" foundations for their films.
