The Department of Acting at K. R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts successfully conducted a 10-day Advanced Voice and Speech Workshop (ACT-206 WS) for the Semester III students of the 2024 Admission Batch from 23 March to 01 April 2026.
The workshop was led by renowned theatre practitioner and NSD alumna Jilmil Hazarika and focused on advanced actor-training techniques integrating voice, breath, movement, resonance, articulation, rhythm, imagination, and performance practice.
Through intensive practical sessions, improvisations, monologue work, vocal exercises, soundscape creation, and scene performances, students explored voice as an expressive tool in acting while enhancing confidence, vocal clarity, emotional expression, and performance sensitivity.
The workshop provided students with valuable exposure to contemporary voice-training methodologies and holistic actor-training practices, making it a significant academic and artistic learning experience for the Department of Acting.
