
The combined Documentary Production Workshop scheduled (23-03-2025 to 01-04-2025) for all the students of specialisation branches of the fourth semester( 2022 Batch admission). Apart from Direction students, the workshop would have students from Cinematography, editing, and Audiography. This semester IV is focused on Non Fiction and this is one of the major workshops which would enable the students to equip themselves for their Semester end project which is a Non fiction work. Anirban Datta, was born in 1975, in Baranagar, Kolkata in a family with academic interests. His father Asoke Kumar Datta was India's one of the first generation computer scientists and mother Shubhra Datta was a mathematician. Anirban was interested in writing and chose to give up pursuing Physics to become a full-time screenwriter. Anirban currently is the professor and HOD of Direction & Screenwriting, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute Kolkata

pursuing Physics to become a full-time screenwriter. In this period, he worked for several
regional and national projects as a professional script & screenwriter. BOM/ One Day Ahead of Democracy (2011): World Premier, IDFA 2011,
Amsterdam; Rajat Kamal, 59th National Film Awards 2011 and many other accolades. Wasted
(2012): A PSBT-Films Division Fellowship Film, received Special Jury Award, John Abraham
National Award, and was screened at Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2014-15, Artist’s Cinema section
among it's many other important achievements. Kalikshetra (2018), a sequel of his 2007 film
Bhultir Khero made under PSBT-Doordarshan Fellowship grant, for telecast in Doordarshan was
the closing Film, Kolkata Peoples Film Festival 2018. Shamans of the Street & Sasemira are his
current feature film projects.
