The Ad Film and Action Choreography Workshop was successfully conducted from October 1st to 5th, 2018, for the 2015 batch Script Writing and Direction students at K. R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts (KRNNIVSA).

The workshop was led by Mr. Rajesh Nair, a noted filmmaker known for directing popular Malayalam films such as Salt Mango Tree, Escape from Uganda, and Thrissur Pooram. His diverse experience in both commercial and content-driven cinema provided students with valuable industry insights and practical exposure.

Key Highlights of the Workshop:

Ad Film Module:

Basics of advertisement filmmaking.

Brand storytelling and script structuring for short formats.

Hands-on sessions where students conceptualized and shot mock ad films.

Understanding client briefs and pitching creative ideas.

Action Choreography Module:

Introduction to cinematic action sequences and safety protocols.

Designing action scenes for low and mid-budget films.

Live demonstrations and student-participation in choreographing scenes.

Focus on camera movement and editing styles for action.

Mr. Rajesh Nair shared real-life experiences from his work in commercial cinema and mentored the students through practical group activities. The workshop also facilitated critical discussions on the challenges of blending action and narrative within storytelling formats.

The sessions were interactive, and students responded with great enthusiasm. The workshop played a crucial role in enhancing their understanding of the commercial and technical dimensions of filmmaking.
