K. R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts' student film, 'Dinosaurinte Mutta' (The Dinosaur's Egg), directed by Shruthil Mathew, has been selected as the Best Documentary in the Asia-Pacific region for the CILECT Prize 2025, an international film award from CILECT, the association of film and television institutes worldwide.
CILECT is a French acronym for the International Association of Film and Television Schools. It serves as a platform connecting leading film, television, and electronic media schools worldwide to enhance education, share ideas, and promote collaboration and dynamic innovation.
In 2025, it includes 186 schools spread across 64 countries, with a network of around 11,000 faculty, 90,000 students, and over 1.6 million alumni.
'Dinosaurinte Mutta' was chosen as the best documentary from among the student films of 34 film institutes in the Asia-Pacific region (CAPA).
Director Shruthil Mathew and Sound Designer Muhammad Thamir M.K. attended the 71st International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany—a world-renowned and one of the oldest international short film festivals, founded in 1954. The film also received a Special Mention at the G. Hawa IDFF 2024, Prague, Czech Republic, on November 2, 2024, where Shruthil Mathew and Cinematographer Bhavya Baburaj participated in the world premiere.
