Students from KRNNIVSA, Department of Acting (2024 batch) participated at International Festival of Theatre Schools (IFTS) 2026 at School of Drama and Fine Arts, Thrissur from 16 -22 January. IFTS is a new experience in learning, observing and understanding the pedagogy and practice of various Schools in theatre practice around the world. This fourth edition of IFTS themed Carnival of Pedagogy: Theatre and Health. IFTS is a platform through which educators, artists, and scholars come together to explore innovative intersections between theatre practice, pedagogy, and holistic well-being.
Our students participated in two workshops, one for three days and the other for two days titled in various themes like Pause – Presence – Play, Fashion Show, Scenic Illustration, Pathways to Higher Ego :The Alchemy of Michael Chekhov, The Listening body – Attention, Effort & Collective Care, Inflamed! – Agricultural Practices for Planetary Health, The Five Elements of Character, Irondale’s Theatre of Empathy, Fundamentals of lighting and Sound.
Associate Professor from department of Acting, Mr. Jyothish M.G invited to IFTS as pedagogue and his workshop was on the theme Fundaments of Film Acting from 21 to 22 January. As part of faculty presentation Assistant Professor from Acting Department, Ms. Jyothirmayi N presented paper titled ‘Training the actor with Empathy’ on 21st January.
In IFTS our students got the opportunity to participate and watch Pedagogy demonstrations, cultural Performances like Ottanthullal, Pottan Theyyam, Therukoothu, Kathakali, Kutiyattam. Also they went to Kerala Kalamandalam deemed to be University for Arts and Culture as a cultural tour with the whole team of IFTS.
