The administration of K. R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts (KRNNIVSA) is designed to uphold transparency, academic integrity, and institutional autonomy. The governance of the Institute is vested in two key statutory bodies — the Governing Council and the Executive Council — supported by designated office bearers.
The Governing Council of KRNNIVSA is the apex decision-making body that provides overall policy direction, approves budgets, and oversees the strategic development of the Institute. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala is the President of the Governing Council, with the Hon’ble Minister for Education as the Vice President. it comprises key government officials, elected representatives, and nominated experts.
The Executive Council of KRNNIVSA functions as the principal administrative body responsible for the day-to-day management of the Institute. It implements the decisions of the Governing Council and oversees academic operations, staff administration, finance, and infrastructure. Chaired by the Secretary of the Institute and supported by the Finance Officer, Higher Education Department representative, and nominated experts, the Council ensures smooth execution of institutional programmes and compliance with approved policies.
The Academic Council of KRNNIVSA is the principal academic authority of the Institute, responsible for maintaining high standards of teaching, training, research, and evaluation. Chaired by the Director, the Council includes Heads of Departments, senior faculty members, and external academic experts. It oversees curriculum development, approves academic programmes and syllabi, and ensures alignment with industry standards and evolving creative practices. The Academic Council plays a vital role in shaping the academic vision of KRNNIVSA, fostering innovation while upholding academic rigor and excellence.
