Conducted by: Ms. Revathy Varma (Ad Filmmaker & Director)
An intensive Ad Film Workshop was conducted for the 2016 batch students of the Script Writing and Direction Department from February 18 to 22, 2019 at KRNNIVSA. The workshop was led by Ms. Revathy Varma, a highly respected name in the Indian advertising and feature film industry.
The five-day workshop focused on giving students a hands-on understanding of the creative, technical, and strategic aspects of advertising. Sessions included:
Understanding the structure of ad films
Script development and pitching ideas
Visual storytelling in short formats
Client-brief analysis and creative response
Pre-production and production planning
Live ad film project work in teams
Ms. Revathy Varma brought in real-time industry examples and guided the students through the end-to-end process of ad film making, from concept to screen. Students worked on individual and group ad concepts, developed scripts, and even created mock ad film executions during the workshop.
The workshop concluded with a screening and critique session, where each team presented their ad work and received professional feedback from Ms. Varma and the faculty.
This practical exposure helped the students understand the unique demands and creative scope of advertising as a career option within the larger film and media industry. The workshop was a major learning experience, sharpening both creative thinking and production skills of the participating students.
