
'Dinosaur's Egg', an 18-minute short film made by students of the K.R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts, has gained international attention by telling the story of Kottayam migration. It received a special mention at the 'Yi Flava' International Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic. The film had earlier won the Golden Comma Award at the 'Alpavirama' International Film Festival in Ahmedabad. The film will be screened at the VGIK International Film Festival in Russia next week. The film was completed in Kottayam and Idukki districts. The theme is the migration from Thiruvananthapuram to Malabar in the 1940s, their past and cultural heritage. The film is directed by Sruthil Mathew, a PG Diploma student of the institute, who has included ancient paintings from the small church in Kottayam in the film. Animation student S.S. Satyanand played the role. PG Diploma students Bhavya Baburajanu C: Animator, M.S. Abhiram did the cinematography and Muhammed Tamir did the sound mixing. along with faaculty Dr Aravind Narayanan Students Vysakh Somanag, Ajay Govind and Srihari S. Mar are the other crew members. The film was made as part of a student project at a cost of Rs. 35,000.
