Debjani Banerjee is a filmmaker, poet, and producer who have been creating films since 2015. She earned her postgraduate diploma in Film Direction and Screenplay Writing from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI). Her short films, including Ratchora and Terra, as well as her documentaries Scattered Clouds, Guqin Melodies (in Mandarin), and Time River (2024), have been showcased at various international film festivals. In 2015, Debjani was selected for the Looking China project, where she made the documentary Guqin Melody, filmed in Guiyang, China.
She published her first poetry book, Hemonte Chadore, in 2012 and has contributed short stories and articles to various Bengali magazines. Her production company, Lotus Sutra, produced the documentary, Time River (2024), and she is currently making a Bengali feature film. Debjani has taught Film Direction and Screenplay Writing at several film institutes, including SRFTI in Kolkata, RSACE in Mumbai, and ILead in Kolkata.
