Dr. Aravind Narayanan is a highly accomplished Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) professional with over 11 years of industry experience. Known for his expertise in 2D and 3D animation, compositing, VFX supervision, and graphic design, he has made significant contributions to films in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Nepali. A talented watercolor and oil painting artist since childhood, Dr. Aravind has won numerous district and state-level awards, laying a strong foundation for his creative career.

Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Animation and Graphic Design, a Master of Arts in Animation, and a PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication, specializing in the effectiveness of animation in art history education. He was the first-rank holder in his MA Animation program at MG University and has published research in prestigious international journals.

Dr. Aravind’s contributions to the film industry include notable projects such as Living Together (2011), Kunjaliyan (2012), Chennaiyil Oru Naal (2013), Lappan Chhappan (2017), and Marconi Mathai (2019). He directed and animated the award-winning hybrid animation short Future Plans (2016), which received the Best Animation Short Film Award at the Swachh Bharat Mission Animation Short Film Festival (Doordarshan) and was selected for international festivals such as Caribeetoons, Rivers International Film Festival, and Cinestudantil International Film Festival. His sand animation film World Peace was also recognized at the Cinestudantil International Film Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In addition to his work in films, Dr. Aravind has contributed VFX for Goodbye, Mayfly, a short film directed by Siddhartha Gigoo, and has created animations for advertisements for esteemed organizations such as KSID, KSCADC, KASE, KSDMA, Kuwait Oil Company, K.P. Namboothiris, and Azym Technologies. As one of the first individuals in Kerala to earn a BA, MA, and PhD in Animation, Dr. Aravind has played a pioneering role in advancing animation education. He was part of the inaugural MA Animation batch at MG University and currently serves as a faculty member at the K.R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts (KRNNIVSA), Kerala.

At KRNNIVSA, he worked as an animator on award-winning films, including the student documentary film Dinosaur’s Egg, directed by Shri Sruthyl Mathew, which received international recognition at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (Prague), the Alpavirama Film Festival (NID Ahmedabad), and won the Best Multimedia Project Film Award at the VGIK International Film Festival, Russia, among others.

Passionate about mentoring and fostering creativity, Dr. Aravind combines his technical mastery and artistic vision to inspire the next generation of animators, solidifying his legacy as a trailblazer in the field of animation and visual effects.
