K. R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science & Arts is an innovative professional training center in Film, Television and other Audio-Visual media and envisaged as a research center of excellence in Digital Media Arts established by the Government of Kerala at Thekkumthala in Kottayam District.

The rapid developments in the field of visual media has opened up wide opportunities in the creative world. India produces the largest number of feature films in a year and India’s Broadcast, Web, and Gaming Industries are also thriving. Providing quality training and fine tuning talented and qualified personnel is the need of the hour for our growing entertainment industry with its international presence. It is in this regard that the Government of Kerala conceived the idea of establishing a National Institute of Visual Science & Arts in the name of the late Shri. K. R. Narayanan, the former President of India.

It is located in a picturesque village of Kottayam district in Kerala namely Thekkumthala. The campus is spread across 12 acres of village landscape with cleaner air to breath and without the stressful sounds of the city. The serene beauty and ambiance of the place itself motivates one’s inherent creativity. Thekkumthala is a small hamlet in the Akalakkunnam Panchayat of Kottayam Taluk.
